At The Grill Guys, we live and breathe outdoor cooking—rain, shine, or falling leaves. As the temperatures start to dip here in southwest Missouri, we know some folks start packing up their grills and smokers for the season. But for us (and for our enthusiast customers), fall is prime time for low-and-slow cooking. There’s nothing better than a brisk morning with a brisket on the smoker!
That’s why we want to talk about something we’re passionate about: smokers that actually perform when the weather turns cold. Not all smokers are built to handle Missouri’s unpredictable fall and winter swings. But Pitts & Spitts? They’re in a league of their own.
I was sent this recipe and thought it would be fun to try. It looked like it would be easy enough to add some BBQ elements to it, so I gave it a whirl. Let's see how it turned out.
With condos, apartments, and other high-density population areas, it's becoming more common to see rules against grills with open flames. "For other than one- and two-family dwellings, outdoor cooking appliances, heating appliances, or appliances used for similar purposes, such as grills and hibachis, are not to be used or kindled on any balcony, under any overhanging portion, or within 10 ft (3 m) of any structure. This keeps the ignition source a safe distance from the structure, such as an apartment building or dormitory." according to Kristin Bigda of the National Fire Protection Association.
Summer is here, and if you’re anything like us, you’re craving sweet, sticky ribs. If you’re looking for a rib that’s a little bit fruity and totally out of the box, you’ll want to try these Peach BBQ Ribs. These ribs impart all the best flavors of peach with a little bit of heat on the back end. The light flavored dessert-like flavors shine through while keeping the rib savory enough to serve at any BBQ.
